Riot Snipers

So, am I the only one who expected rioting after game seven, regardless of the results? Didn't think so. After reading through Captain Vancouver's's excellent site http://publicshamingeternus.wordpress.com and seeing the excellent photos there got me thinking. For events like this, why don't the police departments work with local photography clubs, freelance pros, and building owners, and where safe, let photographers set up to capture the action? I'd love to perch up high and shoot a rioter ;) I've done sports photography, and it's thrilling to get that perfect action shot. Photographers could time stamp their photos to make them better evidence in court. The photogs would keep any rights for publication, but allow law authorities free use. We aren't allowed by law to go all Buford Pusser on them, but this could augment the cell phone cameras with high resolution shots (and be a fun night out, not to make light of these scumbags).
