I expect 2009 will be a year of change and opportunity, but I've been accused of being overly optimistic before. So, in keeping with the trend of New Year's Day predictions, here's my outlook for this year.
Economics
- The economy will stabilize by mid-2009 and begin to show some signs of growth towards the latter part of the year as businesses rationalize their operations and find better ways to enhance productivity. This will be because the Government of Canada declined to throw buckets of money around without a plan or method of accountability.
- Oil will stabilize around $65.00/barrel and hold there for the year.
- A stake the size of a Yellowstone Redwood tree will be put through the heart of the whole global warming scam. The European carbon credit trading system will collapse, and there may be a number of class action law suits brought against those who have been profiting from this fear mongering. Gaia willing, we will see Al Gore and David Suzuki bankrupted.
- The Liberal Party of Canada will continue to suffer from dissention behind the scenes, as what little grass roots organization they may have had begins to take a hiatus. Beneficiaries of this trend will be both the NDP (Red Liberals) and the Conservatives (centrists and Blue Liberals)
- Jack Layton and Gilles Duceppe, along with select Liberals will continue to talk up the viability of the chimeralition, despite Michael Ignatieff's best efforts to bury it in the minds of Canadians.
- Should the Budget fail to pass at the end of January, we will go directly to an election. The(Karl) Marx Brothers' coalition (BNL) will not pass G0 (because the Governor General will decline to hand over the keys to the kingdom do them) so they will not collect Ministerial Perks (worth much more than $200.00).
- If there is an election in 2009, it will happen in the early part of the year. Should this occur, the resulting devastation to the LPC will be catastrophic. While they may not be anihilated to 2 seats, they will be reduced to 30 seats, located in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, to truly become the MTV party.
- Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights legislation will be struck down.
- The shine will quickly come off the new government in the United States as the President starts to govern as a pragmatist. 'Progressive' dissilusionment will manifest itself in the 2010 congressional elections.
- There will be a connection found between Blagovich and a prominent member of President Obama's administration. Other than Fox, the US media will do its best to try glossing this over.
- Neither Kennedy nor Cuomo will be appointed to the New York senate seat vacated by Hillary Clinton. The place holder will be someone who is somewhat older who will not be running for the seat when it comes open in 2010.
- In the meantime, the Republican party will begin its rebuilding process, turning back towards the principles which resulted in the sucesses of the Reagan era.
Have a happy and prosperous New Year!
