Why Silk Stocking?

According to Rogets Thesaurus, 'Silk-Stocking' is a synonym for Conservative that I felt had a nice provocative twist. Mind you it's also a synonym for Wealthy or Aristocratic and by no means am I laying claim to being either one of those. If this foray into the blogosphere is to be anything, it is ecelectic. I have the misfortune of being one of those individuals who have more interests than time...we all have 168 hours in a week, but when you take out sleep, work, and taking care of personal necessities there isn't all that much left....
