It must be spring...the protesters are out

Isn't it funny how any time that leaders of democratic, western nations get together to discuss anything the protesters make it out in force?
Thousands of people marched through European cities yesterday to demand jobs, economic justice and environmental accountability, kicking off six days of protest and action planned in the run-up to the G20 summit this week in London.
I've always wanted to ask these people a few things:
  • Where are these jobs that people are supposed to be magically entitled to? Is there a tree or garden where they grow wild, or do they just fall from the sky?
  • What exactly do you mean by 'economic justice'? When I hear the term, the first thing I think of is that someone will be getting something for nothing - which means that someone else will get nothing for something.
  • How do you define environmental accountability?
Guess what folks, redistribution of wealth does not create job - people who are free to use their intelligence and creativity to invent something or to persue an oportunity to meet a need are the ones who create jobs. That is true economic justice.

And if you want environmental accountability, instead of pointing fingers try looking back at the three fingers pointing back in your direction. Flying, bussing, and driving thousands of people many thousands of miles to protest isn't exactly environmentally friendly. And looking at all the detrius left in the wake of these protests, its possible that some entrepreneur could see an opportunity there...
