It's been a while since I've posted. Life just has this tendency to get in the way, and I haven't felt that there was anything I could add to the general discourse.
In the meantime, the conspicuously consuming celebrity class has taken time out of their busy schedules to jet around the world and berate the unwashed masses on the impending doom that faces us all unless we immediately renounce civilization as we know it. This, naturally, does not apply to them as we the peons need their enlightened guidance. After all, how can they share their wisdom with us without such critical necessities as 30 room mansions, fleets of vehicles, designer duds, and private jets? The last time I encountered this kind of logic was when I read the Communist Manifesto, and its exhortation of the destruction of all class distinctions - with the exception (of course) of the Revolutionary class whose job it was to educate, enlighten and lead the proletariat (with all the attendant perks, naturally). Co-incidence?
Parliament closed, the cabinet was shuffled slightly, the opposition complained, yawn. What really blew me away was CTV having Scott Reid commenting on the impending shuffle on Tuesday morning. WTF were they thinking??!? It was less a thoughtful analysis of what could happen than an infomercial for the Liberal Party of Canada. If they wanted an analysis, don't you think they might have been able to dig up some Political Scientist from somewhere who may have actually contributed some valuable insight? To me, it was equivalent to bringing in Ernst Zundel to talk about the opening of the Human Rights Museum in Winnipeg, and just as appropriate.
Anyway, as things are settling down I should be blogging on a more regular basis again.
